Hi, I am Jeremy Rynders, owner and webmaster of
DisabledTravelers.com. While I do not have a disability
myself, my older sister does. Amy is 28 and has Cerebral
Palsy and Mental Retardation. She uses a wheelchair in
her everyday life and travels. Amy is the inspiration
for this site and our family business -
Stagecoach Trails Guest Ranch, an accessible guest
ranch that was built by my family for everyone to enjoy.
About 12 years ago we tried to take a family vacation to
a guest ranch and were unable to find one that was
suited for disabled travelers. We recognized a real need
to build one so we created a completely barrier free
ranch that disabled
travelers and able bodied travelers both can enjoy! Six
years later we moved from Wisconsin to Arizona to build
our ranch. Along with the rest of my family, my wife
Jodi and I are a big part of the ranch operations. We
have now been open for almost 5 years, hosting thousands
of guests (disabled and able-bodied) from around the
world. After the ranch was established, I started to
develop this website as I saw a real need to offer
disabled travelers a great resource for finding good
accessible travel information.
I have lived with Amy for over 26
years and have not only been her brother, but her
caretaker at many times. This gives me personal
knowledge in the special needs of disabled travelers. I
know how difficult it can be when traveling with a
disability, especially in a wheelchair. A great deal
depends on where you go and how much planning is done ahead of time. It is my hope that this website will
assist in trying to find the resources they are looking
for. We have done our best to find every possible
tour
operator,
travel agent, etc. that specializes in disability
travel. If you have any suggestions or comments about
DisabledTravelers.com please
EMAIL or write me via snail
mail anytime as we love to hear from our visitors.
Please use all the resources that this site offers
including the
travelers community with message boards, travel
blogs, and online photo gallery. We are also in need of
photographs to use throughout the various pages on this
site. If you are willing to share a photo for our
cruise, travel agents, tour operator, or adventure
travel page please
email or mail them to
me. Thank you, enjoy this site, and Happy Trails
to you all!
